FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 19, 2021
Due to the improved conditions in Rutherford County and the updated protocols provided through the Centers for Disease Control, the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) Board of Directors voted at their May meeting to dissolve the COVID phased plan for all branch libraries, leaving restoration of services and any residual protocols up to Branch Managers and Supervisors with the approval of the Director of Libraries.
Masks are no longer mandated for patrons in RCLS facilities. While good health practices emphasized during the heightened days of the pandemic continue to be encouraged, patrons will find libraries slowly restoring services and practices to pre-pandemic norms.
“We are so grateful to our patrons for their support and encouragement during this past year,” shares Director of Libraries Rita Shacklett. “They enabled our staff to continue to serve their needs safely and with confidence due to their patience and willingness to adjust with us to the necessary changes we had to make in our services.”
For any questions about safety protocols or services, please call your local branch library.
